The world health community continues to monitor closely the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the disease it causes, named “coronavirus disease 2019” (COVID-19). At this time, no one knows how severe this outbreak will be. Given this uncertainty, and the fact that the seasonal influenza (flu) virus is also widespread, we are taking proactive steps to address a number of business concerns. First and foremost, we want to maintain a safe workplace and encourage and/or adopt practices protecting the health of employees, patients, visitors or others. We also want to ensure the continuity of business operations during the current pandemic.  We ask all employees, patients, visitors and others, to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of communicable diseases in all West Virginia Eye Consultants offices.

  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the trash.
  • Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms.
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces.

West Virginia Eye Consultants has provided alcohol-based hand sanitizers in all restrooms and throughout each of our offices.  Cleaning sprays and wipes have been be provided to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as workspace counters, waiting room and exam room chairs, telephones and keyboards.  It is critical that our employees and patients do not come to our offices while they are experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills or fatigue. Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 degrees F or 37.8 degrees C) or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.  West Virginia Eye Consultants will continue our efforts to keep our offices clean and safe for the wellbeing of our employees and patients.  Please help us in our efforts by rescheduling your appointment and staying home if are sick or experiencing any of the above symptoms.  There is risk with any personal interaction of contracting the COVID 19, Flu, or the common cold now and in the near future, as there has always been a risk.  It is important to reassure our employees and patients that we are monitoring the situation and doing everything possible to reduce the risk of developing any kind of illness while visiting our offices.  We appreciate your cooperation and wish you all good health and wellness.

  2. It is good to see some credible information about this disease. The stuff coming out of the White House is useless, dangerous and not effective. Thank you.

  3. Thank you for the concern. We are practicing all recommendations. Praying this thing is over soon.
